Abstract

The article reflects the results of the research into the ecological condition of the forests in the town of Dubna of the Moscow Region. The environmental problems of the urban forests are defined. They are forest degradation, illegal orchards organization and garages construction, illegal felling, distribution of stem wreckers and wood diseases, spontaneous dumps, making fires in illegal places and during the fire-dangerous period and others. The territorial prevalence of these aspects is also analyzed. Archival records on previous similar research of 2007—2010 are involved in the study. It is revealed that the most part of problems is due to the unregulated recreational activity of the town residents. There are also a number of difficulties in the legal framework of the urban forests. The situation is complicated by the lack of financing in the sphere of urban forests improvement, that results in the decrease of the number of carried-out activities for forest management.
